Daytona State presents: “A Doll’s House,” nightly performances begin June 15

Photo by Jean Marie Appleby, staff photographer, Daytona State CollegeDAYTONA BEACH, FL (May 25, 2011) – Daytona State College’s School of Music, Entertainment and Art presents "A Doll’s House," a three-act drama by Henrik Ibsen. Nora Helmer is a vibrant young housewife who nonetheless suffers from a crippling dependency on her controlling husband of eight years. In one of the most famous and scandalous climaxes in all of nineteenth-century drama, Nora leaves her husband and children, determined to forge a new identity from the one she’s always known.
 
Nightly performances in the Goddard Performance Hall (bldg. 230) begin Wednesday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. and continue through Saturday, June 18. A matinee performance is scheduled for Sunday, June 19, at 2:30 p.m.
 
Admission is free to Daytona State College students as well as Volusia and Flagler county students; all others $8 per person or $15 for two. Tickets are available in advance at the Daytona State Box Office located in the Theater Center (bldg. 220) on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Box Office Hours: Wednesday - Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact the Daytona State College Box Office by calling (386) 506-3042.
 
Tickets also will be sold the day of each performance at the Box Office, which opens one-hour prior to performance.
 
The Goddard Performance Hall is located on the Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Boulevard.
 
The performing arts programs at Daytona State prepare students for futures in music, drama and dance, while also providing entertainment opportunities for the community through a variety of events produced each semester.
