Lady Falcons to host summer fastpitch softball academies

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 14, 2011) - Coaching staff and players of Daytona State College’s Lady Falcon Softball team announces a series of fastpitch softball academies for ages 7 through 17.

Elite Falcon All Skills Summer Academy will be held Monday, July 25 through July 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday – Wednesday) and from 9 a.m. to noon (Thursday), at a cost of $125 per participant. This camp is designed for ages 13 through high school senior and covers all aspects of the Fastpitch game including speed and agility. 

The Falcon Team Academy will be held Monday, Aug. 1 through Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at a cost of $125 per individual or $375 per team. This camp is designed for ages 12 through high school senior and covers all aspects of the Fastpitch game including speed, agility, fielding, offense (hitting, base-running, bunting, slapping), pitching and catching. The Falcon Team Academy also will involve recruiting education and game strategies.

For ages 7 to 12, the Little Falcon Summer Academy covers the same skills and will be held on Monday, Aug. 16 through Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday – Wednesday) and from 9 a.m. to noon (Thursday), at a cost of $125 per participant. Bring a bathing suit for fun summer swimming.

Members of the Daytona State Softball team will join the coaching staff with instruction being provided by Head Coach Sabrina Manhart and Assistant Coach Alissa Smith, as well as Stephanie Best (former assistant coach at the University of Central Florida) and Holly Bussey (assistant coach, Bethune-Cookman University) and area high school coaches such as Anna Cindric (NSB High School), Jennifer Mitchell (Deland High School), Rachel Kilbert (former head coach at Seabreeze High School).
