Mike Curb Racing Celebration

Mike Curb Racing CelebrationDAYTONA BEACH, FL (June 1, 2009) - Daytona State College and the Daytona State College Foundation will host the Mike Curb Racing Celebration on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the College’s Mori Hosseini Center. This exciting celebration honors Mike Curb, NASCAR car owner, music industry leader and politician as well as Richard Petty and his milestone 200th victory. The event will feature the Mike Curb Productions car that Petty drove to victory in 1984, the current Baker-Curb Racing car and a museum exhibit depicting an extensive collection of Curb’s racing photos.

The event, featuring fine cuisine, wine and beer, and entertainment, will be celebrated with Richard Petty, Mike Reagan, son of President Ronald Reagan, and members of the Curb, Petty, Reagan, and NASCAR families. Curb brought President Reagan to the race in 84’, during which he was recognized as the first sitting president to attend a NASCAR race.

The evening will commence with a special presentation by Mike Curb to the France family to honor William H.G. France and his 2008 induction into the U.S. Business Hall of Fame.

Curb, one of the most prominent figures in the music entertainment industry, presides over Curb Records, the largest independent record label in the country. The label has launched the careers of such stars as LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, Wynona Judd and Hank Williams, Jr. Curb is also a founding member of the acclaimed ‘60s vocal group the Mike Curb Congregation. Over the years he has written more than 400 songs, produced 25 gold or platinum-selling records, and received countless music industry awards. Curb also served as lieutenant governor of California from 1979-1983, serving as acting governor from 1980-1982, and was the youngest person ever to serve on the Republican National Committee Executive Committee. He also co-chaired the California campaigns of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.

Tickets are $50 per person and proceeds from this event will benefit the Daytona State College Foundation and will provide capital support and assist with the creation of new degree programs at Daytona State College dedicated to the music, entertainment and event planning industries.
