FRESH START Class: Displaced Homemakers Program
Sponsored by Daytona State College's Center for Women and Men, this three-week program is designed to assist individuals to make a successful transition from homemaker to workplace. Participants will learn how to build confidence, manage stress, establish goals, explore career interests, investigate educational opportunities, write a successful resume, improve interview skills, learn job search tools, and prepare for a new beginning. Sponsored by Daytona State College and the State of Florida, Department of Economic Opportunity. Monday - Friday. Free.

FRESH START FOR MEN
Sponsored by Daytona State College’s Center for Women and Men, this four-week program assists men who desire to make a successful transition into career and technical training programs at Daytona State College.  Students will explore career options, examine educational opportunities, and establish personal and career goals.  They will also learn interview and job-readiness skills and how to create a resume for successful entrance into the workforce.  Participants must have a high school diploma/GED or be referred by Adult Education. This program provided in part by the Florida Department of Education and the US Department of Education. Classes meet over the course of 4-weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Free.

Educating Women - Empowering Women
Join the Daytona State College Center for Women and Men as they celebrate National Women's History Month by hosting their annual luncheon that will honor local women who have made a difference in people's lives. Sharing personal stories on how education has empowered them to be twenty-first century leaders, honored guests include: Dr. Carol Eaton, President of Daytona State College, Dr. Wendy Libby, President of Stetson University, Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed, President of Bethune-Cookman University, Dr. Margaret Smith, Superintendent of Volusia County Schools, and Janet Valentine, Superintendent of Flagler County Schools. Tickets are $25 with proceeds benefitting the Daytona State College Center for Men and Women.
